🏛️ Progress: It Comes In Signs and Unexpected Forms
Wow, it is hard to believe it has been 5 weeks! Hopefully, at this point, you are really starting to hit your stride. This week is all about giving you the tools and providing direction to strengthen your practice as you move forward.
Before we get into that, here are some signs that your intuitive abilities are growing. Let’s take a quick beat and let me know whether any of these are coming up for you:
- It’s easier to speak your truth
- You’re prioritizing stillness over multitasking
- You’re starting to hear whispers and messages in moments of stillness
- You experience more synchronicity in your life
- You begin to notice signs and nudges presenting themselves to you which inspires a greater feeling of interconnectedness
- You are connecting dots between things to see the deeper meaning
- You focus less on reaching a destination and are feeling more fulfillment in everyday things
- You’re starting to follow spontaneity in daily activities
Still, you might be struggling with trusting what’s coming through which is blocking bolder forms of application. Trust is built over time. You need to keep experimenting and begin to develop evidence for yourself with positive results in the real world.
This is why I recommend some form of documentation or what I call an Inner Guidance or Intuition Log.
The best way I’ve found to increasingly trust the guidance I receive is to create a ledger that documents it. This allows me to calibrate the guidance I received with how life has played out. Over time, as you begin to chart your actions with the inner guidance you’ve received, you will increase trust from seeing the positive things that have emerged.
Story: Being Guided In Unexpected Ways
Oftentimes life acts in your favor in ways that you might not be able to immediately perceive. Over the past few weeks, I’ve shared a lot of obvious wins. I thought it was time to give you an example of something a bit more subtle.
I often get a lot of meeting requests especially now that I’m creating content. It’d be very easy for me to be meeting 2-3 strangers a day if I said yes to everyone who reached out to me to ask to meet. At first glance, most of these people have no obvious relation to my top 3 priorities. What’s interesting about this predicament is that you never know how someone might be able to help you. There’s incomplete information.
How many times have you met with someone expecting nothing and then some unforeseen connection spawned out of that conversation that changed everything?
The truth is that we can’t see the totality of things. This is one reason why meeting requests are a great place to leverage inner guidance.
Recently, someone I knew, but hadn’t chatted with in a few years reached out to me to reconnect.
My logical mind told me this was likely a waste of time because the person had a tendency to just pitch me his product in the past. This made our previous interactions a classic one-sided value-creation scenario.
But for some reason, my guidance told me to take the meeting. Lo and behold midway through our call, I found myself in the same scenario again and patience getting tested. At the end of the meeting, I curtly left the call making a comment on how I needed to get back to time with my family vs. taking sales demos.
On the surface, this might seem like I was guided in the wrong direction. I mean I could have been using that time doing something I was enjoying right?
However, what became clear to me was that I was meant to be on this call to illuminate a behavior pattern that I needed to work on. It was a striking mirror that I still had some work to do related to having expectations of others and self-importance (vs. embodying unconditional love). Because my ultimate goal is to transcend these instances of separation and have a completely open heart, this experience was actually servicing my highest pursuit. It took me a minute, but I eventually saw that my guidance and life were working FOR ME.
Now depending on where you are in your spiritual walk the idea of being inconvenienced like this and claiming it’s happening for you may not be satisfying. That’s okay. My goal in sharing this with you is to help interpret your guidance log in the most wholesome possible.
If something like this happens to you where you are seemingly guided and something inconvenient happens, I encourage you not to lose faith and give it time. I often find something emerges down the road that makes it much more clear why things unfolded the way they did.
🔨 Building Your Intuition Log
The main thing you need to build your inner guidance or intuition log is a central place to store information you’ve been given. The best place is the one that you’re most likely to use which might be something as simple as notes on your phone.
Whether you choose to mark down whether you followed each piece of guidance or not is up to you. I find that I follow almost all the guidance I get these days so for me personally it’s kind of arbitrary to check it off.
My preferred guidance log location is Roam Research which is the note tool I use. What I like about Roam is that it allows me to connect different pieces of information across nodes. So for example, I can receive a piece of guidance on money and then another one on my relationship in the same meditation session.
Roam allows me to capture the guidance on each and then associate it in a way where I can view guidance by day or category.
Here’s a quick video to show you how it works.
Every few weeks, I’ll go in and look at the guidance I received. Am I actively following it? How are things playing out and is there past advice I need to pay more attention to?
Suffice it to say I’m teaching this course which I was guided to do so clearly I am a believer in following it!
🦮 Guidance Log F.A.Q.
I often encounter decisions I need to make in the near term when I don’t have time to sit down and get into a deep state. So I keep a note on my phone called “Inquiry/Guidance” where I write down different things that come up that I want information on.
I usually revisit this note each morning and then practice direct inquiry.
Here’s what the full flow looks like:
- Life presents a decision I need to make
- Capture it in my note on my phone
- Invoke guidance in my preferred method later that day or the next morning (usually direct inquiry)
- Send a note to myself of the output over email of the transcription
- Open up Roam to start my day and fill out the guidance section to maintain my ledger
That’s pretty much it.
I find that as you build more trust over time, maintaining a perfect ledger becomes less important. The most important thing is actually getting the guidance and putting it into practice.
F.A.Q.
Do I absolutely need to use an intuition log?
You don’t need to do anything! But the main thing that’s important is that you begin to verify that following your inner guidance is working for you. If you can just remember it and see the proof in your life, then by all means feel free to forego the log.
The number one litmus test for all things is - is my life getting better? If you have given something including this course and honest shot, and the answer is no, then by all means discard it.
I’m a bit afraid of getting information from outside my field. Is that a thing?
When you become energetically open you can definitely start to tune into things outside yourself. I wrote extensively about this here. This is actually how psychic abilities work.
It’s my experience that this most commonly takes the form of feeling other people’s emotions. If this starts to happen to you, I’d recommend reading up on energetic boundaries.
My experience is that you can learn how to turn on and off the information switch over time. When you want to open the field, you drop into a deep state. Otherwise, you can go about your life undisturbed. I find being able to sense and connect with people at this level very enriching. So much of what we feel and think goes unsaid which is why having this extra sensory ability strengthens our connection to those around us.
🌊 Setting Up Your Flow For The Next Month
Now you might be asking, does a person living through intuition always succeed?
Well, it’s true that some of the most successful people in the world cite following their intuition as demonstrated in the video below.
But just because you follow intuition doesn’t guarantee success as traditionally defined by society. It’s my observation that people that follow the intuitive flow in life are generally always happy regardless of whether they succeed or not. Conversely, a person not living intuitively is often physically tight, verbally restrained, and in their head which makes them unhappy no matter how much worldly success they obtain. I encourage you to define success as fulfillment and joy vs. meeting the expectations of a cultural expectation.
Success is a way of being, not a set of accomplishments, relationships, or possessions.
What you eventually come to see is that the journey is the goal. It’s time to let go of the idea that you can only be happy in the future or when certain results are achieved. Setbacks will happen, so treat them as learning!
Identify and Commit To Your Preferred Method
This course was intended to give you a sampling of tools and lived experiences to boldly move forward.
Though you can use all tools, I find that it’s better to really hone one practice and gradually build on that in the beginning of your journey. So at this point, I would encourage you to select which method seems to be most comfortable and fruitful for you and commit to practicing it for the next month.
Which method feels most natural to you?
- Direct inquiry
- Morning pages
- Direct expression
Remember this is a skill! It takes time to develop the sensitivity and ability to differentiate between inner guidance and thoughts from the conditioned survival mind.
I also encourage you to experiment with all the different ways to invite, recognize, and apply guidance covered in week 4.
Have Your Capture and Intuition Log Locked In
Based on your method, you want to make sure you have the supporting toolkit to make it easy to capture the guidance and create a log to build trust.
Quick capture for things you want guidance on:
- Phone notes, or preferred note-taking tool
Direct Inquiry
- Preferred audio recording tool i.e. Otter.ai
Morning Pages:
- Roam, Google Docs, Evernote, ReflectApp
Direct Expression:
Guidance Log
- Your preferred note-taking tool, phone notes
Using these tools is a best practice in the beginning, but definitely not required to get the benefits.
What you’re looking for is to build the acuity to receive the guidance and apply it to your life, not just capture everything. This ain’t a college lecture!
However, all of these tools can be supportive as you are getting going and learning to move into a new paradigm of making decisions and living spontaneously.
Encountering Unknowns and Roadblocks
For many of you, these are new waters you are swimming in. There are bound to be moments when you’re unclear about what to make of some information or how to proceed.
Here are a few things to remember:
- Start small with low-risk situations. Use this to build trust
- Revisit and internalize the differences in texture between intuitive higher intelligence and conditioned survival mind thoughts
- Remember you don’t have to act on anything that you don’t want to. You’re free to sit on something, double-check it a few times, or take no action at all
- You can try posing a question to multiple modalities. See if there’s consistency between them
- You can always double-check guidance with reason. Generally, this is encouraged especially in the beginning
- Emotional healing and intuition go hand in hand. I encourage you to work on both
- If you’re still stumped, quiet your mind and ask for a clear sign that you can’t miss. Usually, this will show up in the fabric of life in some way that is unmistakable
And if at any time, you’re still struggling you can ask our community!
Diving into this new way of being is an adventure full of unknowns and magic. You can choose to see it as stressful or a wondrous experiment. I encourage you to do your best to take the latter mindset! After all, you can always go back to the way you’ve always done things.
It’s very possible that as you continue to go down this road that you will be clearing a lot of your own emotional issues. This is a beautiful thing. Intuition and emotional healing go hand in hand and support each other.
It’s important to remember that this is a new way of living. This means you are in it for the long haul, not just a sprint. Be patient with your progress, because this shift is a process of great healing, and your intuition will help you with that healing.
🧐 What Improving Intuition Should Not Feel Like
Our society is programmed to think that in order to improve something we must try harder.
For some things these rules can apply, but not with intuition. I learned this the hard way in my ambition to become enlightened. Spirituality and the expansion of consciousness which is tightly coupled with intuitive emergence does not work this way.
You must learn to have grace and patience with yourself. Even with the availability of your practices, intuition is more emergent in the appropriate conditions rather than forced. The more you work on emotional healing, stilling the mind, trusting, and aligning to the stillness so you can hear life’s whispers, the more intuition you will experience. It is more a bi-product of these conditions, than something that can be won by effort alone.
So if you feel yourself striving and straining, trying to be more intuitive, take a beat and realize that this is not the way. This grasping is actually just the conditioned, survival mind at work trying to get something so that it feels safe.
Don’t feel bad if you find yourself in this position. I have been spiritually humbled many times thinking that I was further along, only to realize that I was in fact operating in order to be safe. This is a normal part of the experience.
When this happens all you need to do is acknowledge where this striving is coming from and try your best to move into a state of trust where the answers you’re looking for will come to you in appropriate timing. This doesn’t mean to stop working on yourself. It means be patient. Be an active participant in your inner transformation, but be flexible on the pace and timeline. One day you’ll wake up and realize you are incredibly intuitive and wonder how you got here. It’s a long slow build vs. an overnight switch.

🙋♂️ The Paradox Of It All
I remember when I discovered this inner guidance inside myself I couldn’t wait to experiment with all the ways I could use it. It felt like I had found this inner superpower that I could wield to get anything I ever wanted.
It’s not that I don’t feel this way still, but the context has changed.
This all really came alive in my life at a point where deep down, behind all the stories I told myself, there was still a desire to use my spiritual transformation to get me worldly things. It wasn’t the entire reason for my desire to grow, but there was still strong attachment to the idea that something outside myself was what was going to make me feel how I wanted to feel. This was one of the reasons I was so excited to use intuition “to get stuff.” This attachment would express itself through an eagerness to practice direct inquiry around big asks like “how do I sell my business?”. It’s not that there’s anything inherently wrong with this, but looking back I can see the context of where it was coming from.
The interesting thing is that over time this desire to “make the most out of my intuitive power” has gently faded. I still use it quite often, but there isn’t this compulsion to maximize like there once was. It’s kind of just a tool that’s there when I need it as life presents itself.
“the more powerful you become, the less you will care.”
My spiritual teacher once told me this in reference to expanded awareness. How I feel about my intuition as its grown is one example of how this truth has unfolded in my own experience. It seems as though the more and more that the emphasis becomes focused on the eternal now, the less and less the desire to maximize things for the future exists. I guess it really cements in that it’s being here now that really provides you what you’ve been searching for all this time.
My genuine hope for you is that you use these tools and abilities in however you see fit in your own journey! May my own experience just be sample of how things may unfold to comfort you if you notice your experience start to change.
💭 Closing Thoughts
I am beyond grateful that you have invested your time and energy with me on this journey.
My hope is that as you embark on this expansive journey, you know you are supported in far bigger ways than you could have ever imagined. And the more you learn to tap into this part of yourself that has always been there, the more awe, abundance, creativity, and connection will flow into your life.
Myself and the community are here to support you the best we can!
Please continue to use the community as a place for guidance and inspiration. Though I can’t commit to answering questions on a tight timeline like I have during the duration of this course, my hope is that we will all continue to support each other the best we can moving forward!
Much love!!
